Jennifer and Aniston were regarded by many as the King and Queen of Hollywood couples, not only did they make a great and attractive couple, they seemed to have a great deal of affection and love for each other, and there was a real chemistry between the two. It came as a huge shock to many of us then when there were rumours and allegations that Brad Pitt had an illicit affair with Angelina Jolie.

There is still a great deal of uncertainty as to the exact influence Jolie had in the separation and subsequent break up of Aniston and Pitt, even if there was no sexual misconduct between Jolie and Pitt, Jolie does seem to have had some insidious involvement in the process. Most remarkable of all, is that most of the suspicion was based on little more than rumour, speculation and hearsay, and very flimsy “evidence” at that. One rumour that pushes itself to the front above all others is that during the filming of the film “Mr and Mrs Smith” Jolie and Pitt were photographed holding hands, Pitt subsequently vehemently denied any romantic involvement or indeed any foul play.

Another rumour was that Pitt and Jolie were regularly in contact with one another over the phone, and engaged in “phone sex”. Allegedly, whether it was deliberately or through sheer accident, Aniston heard such an exchange which led to a subsequent confrontation with Pitt. Finally, rumours also circulated that there was a great deal of tension and animosity between Pitt and Aniston in regards to when and if they were going to have a family. Pitt was very keen to have a family, whilst Aniston was more reluctant to do so, allegedly wanting to maintain her career for as long as possible.

During the filming of Mr and Mrs Smith, Jolie regularly brought her son Maddox on set, and Pitt was observed to be in constant contact with the boy, seeming to strike up a ready and rather strong rapport and bond with the boy. Apparently, this caused further friction between Pitt and Aniston, on the basis that Jolie had successfully managed to juggle both family and her career without either suffering, leading to a somewhat unfavourable comparison between Jolie and Aniston by Pitt.

None of the three actors have made any sort of statement confirming that there was indeed an affair, and or a 3rd party involved but what is clear, is that regardless of what her involvement was, Jolie had a major part to play.
